Our Esteemed Partner BMR’s Report on World Non Ferrous Conference 2016 (MTLEXS)
The World Non-Ferrous Conference 2016 saw wide representation from all segments of then Non-ferrous metal industry; the forum was organized by MTLEXS and held in Mumbai, India on 07-08 October 2016.
The aim of the two day conference was to facilitate deliberations on making the Non-Ferrous Metal ecosystem in the country Future-Ready with positive thoughts into India’s demand growth as well as how to innovate to keep up with the world and achieve double digit growth for the next decade, with the help of producers, recyclers, end-users, industry associations, government authorities and all the industry members.
Engr. Salam Al Sharif, Chairman of Sharif Metals Intl., BIR Chairman of Amb. Comm. & BMR President, addressed the inaugural session as Guest of Honor, welcoming dignitaries from the Government of India, honorable guests and delegates. He later joined the Round Table Conference and delivered a presentation on “Indian Scrap Trade with Middle Eastland the World”, where he tackled India’s being classified as a newly industrialized country and one of the G-20 major economies of the world and its fast growing trade relationship with the Middle East and the rest of the world. India is also considered by the World Bank to be the fastest growing economy and can be USD 10 billion economy in 10 years; he further stated that trade regulations in India and all over the world should smooth out day today issues in the business industry, rather than being trade suppressor. Engr. Al Sharif also stressed during the panel that India should abolish import duty on scrap metals to support local aluminum producers, and same duty can believed on imported finished products.
Engr. Salam Al Sharif also invited the delegates to the BIR convention in Amsterdam and delivered the good news to Indian delegates that the BIR convention in 017 is going to be held in Delhi; heal so invited the delegates to the 6th BMR International Conference in Dubai to be held on 04-05 March 2017 in Dubai; as these platforms will be a good opportunity to understand how national, regional and worldwide associations like the Bureau of Middle East Recycling (BMR), BIR, ISRI, CMRA, MRAI, ANMA, IICA and EEG are working together, promoting recycling and environmental awareness within maximum reach.
